One way to preserve literary treasures and the culture of
Indonesian society is to lift up folklore. In folklore, there are so
many cultural values found. The cultural values that can support
development is the cultural value that can encourage society to be
persistent, be grateful, be patient, be patriotic, be honest, be
helpful, and other noble values.
These values need to be inherited to the young
generation. Pangeran Saputra is one of the folklores set in a
kingdom on the Java Island. This story tells about heroism, such
as being responsible, compassionate, and helpful. This story
set in Java. The original story was written in form of poetry. A
few years ago, the writer changed it in the form of prose.
This story is rewritten with a little changes to suit the
needs of elementary school’s students.
